Getting Started
The custom home design process begins with a meeting on your lot. Here we can make introductions, discuss your goals, analyze your build site, and talk about possible designs and layouts that fit your land.
(If you have not yet procured your lot, this meeting may take place via phone, online, or at our office)
There are many obstacles that may arise while prepping your site. And although Elite Crete is only part of your solution, that shouldn’t stop you from utilizing the resource. Our experienced contractors are happy to share their knowledge, discussing the advantages and limitations (and everything in-between) of your site and how it lays.
Things to Discuss & Challenges You May Face
Site Analysis
The first step is to assess the site thoroughly. This includes evaluating the soil composition, drainage patterns, existing structures or vegetation, and potential environmental impacts.
Clearing & Demolition
Existing structures, trees, or debris on the site must be either removed or properly protected. Demolition and clearing activities should be carried out safely and responsibly, taking care to dispose of materials properly.
Excavation & Grading
Excavation involves digging and removing soil to achieve the desired site elevation and shape. Grading ensures a level surface and proper drainage. These processes often require heavy equipment and skilled operators.
Utilities & Infrastructure
Utilities such as water, sewer, electricity, and gas need to be installed or connected to the site. Additionally, access roads and temporary infrastructure may be required for construction activities.
Environmental Compliance
Preventing erosion and sediment runoff is crucial for environmental protection and regulatory compliance. Installing erosion control measures, like silt fences and sediment basins, helps mitigate these risks.
Site Security
Securing the construction site is essential to prevent unauthorized access and protect equipment and materials from theft and vandalism.
Design Services
Start with an Existing Home Plan or Create Your Own
We will help either way. We feature several home plans to provide a starting point for some clients. Many of the plans shown are tried & true in the log home industry. Others are much more custom.
No plan is perfect from the jump. If you are building your own home then you are gonna make (at least) a few changes. We expect it. Our professional design team will help you modify and fabricate these home plans into your own truly custom home.
Experience Our Cutting-Edge Design Software
Our design department currently uses ArchiCAD 26. This drafting software models your home in 3D while we lay it out in 2D. The traditional 2D plan shows a top-down view of your home’s layout, while the 3D model allows us to walk around and experience it.
The 3D model is a great tool for estimating costs and materials needed. It aids (when necessary) with engineering and construction requirements, and is just so much fun to use!
