The main level has a footprint of 1,680 square feet and features an open concept living area (Great Room, Kitchen, & Dining) at the rear of the house, allowing the great room, dining area, and master suite to take advantage of a view. Guests entering through the front door will be welcomed by a cozy porch and foyer, while residents enter through a Utility/Mud room, conveniently hidden behind a sliding barn door.

The Dogwood Cabin has a geometry that resembles a square, but a few small changes can bring lots of character to an otherwise simple geometric footprint. The front porch has been recessed into the square, and the garage has been extended from the square’s structure by 2′. That’s it. But this gives us more corners, a chance to modify the roof line, and more exterior materials. Here, gable roofing is used above the garage and bedroom, allowing the opportunity for window/door eyebrows and a change in siding above. The recessed front porch allows it to be covered without needing its own build out. Here, stone is used as an exterior siding, breaking up the log look once the threshold of the square is crossed.
